Hebara Sunrise 部原

Hebara Beach is famous in Japan for its sunrise.

It is one of the earliest places you can see the sun rise in all of Japan due to its location. During the winter months when the sun is at its lowest point in the sky stunning pastel colours can be experienced such as pinks & yellows. During Autumn when the clouds are fast moving & high in the atmosphere many reflective sunrises can be seen this is where the colours often are most vivid before the sun actually rises above the horizon. Then during the summer months when the sun is at its strongest its also when the sun will rise from behind the Onjuku headland & extreme deep orange skies can be seen & the sun itself being an intense perfect orb. Finally spring sunrise often comes with low lying clouds sometimes even fog or fine mist which can create stunning images.

One thing is for sure if you love photography or just want to see why Japan is called the "Land of the Rising Sun" Hebara beach should be on your list of places to visit.

25 to 50mm for whole beach images

Long Lens for onjuku Pinnacle shots 200 to 400mm

Best season for swimming in the ocean and shooting sunrise images - August onwards due to the water temperatures all other seasons water is very cold.
